White House Under Fire for Glorifying War Crimes in Social Media

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The White House faced widespread condemnation Friday after releasing video montages that glorify US air strikes on Iran, blending real footage of military violence with clips from Hollywood action movies and video games—effectively gamifying war crimes.

World

The disturbing 42-second montage, posted on X with the caption "Justice the American way," opens with a scene from Iron Man and the line "Wake up, Daddy’s home"—a possible nod to NATO chief Mark Rutte’s controversial reference to US President Donald Trump as "daddy."

What follows is a rapid-fire sequence of clips featuring Hollywood actors cast as heroes—Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick, Mel Gibson in Braveheart, Russell Crowe in Gladiator, Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad, and Keanu Reeves in John Wick—intercut with real US military footage of airstrikes on Iranian targets.

The dehumanizing propaganda drew sharp criticism, including from actor and filmmaker Ben Stiller, who demanded the removal of a clip from his 2008 satirical war film Tropic Thunder.

"We never gave you permission and have no interest in being part of your propaganda machine," Stiller wrote on X. "War is not a movie."

The White House’s montages come as the world remembers the US airstrike on Minab School in Iran, where American forces killed 168 innocent children—an atrocity buried under layers of Western media silence.
